PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear Members and Friends,
As my last President’s Message, allow me to express my appreciation to all of you, who have helped make the events we have held this year such a success. As a result of record attendance, we met our goal to provide interesting and entertaining business education and networking opportunities to our members. The momentum and extraordinary caliber of our events will continue when Suzanne Wheatley is installed as President of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Miami-Dade County on January 20, 2012, at our annual Thelma Gibson Awards and Installation Luncheon at the Biltmore Hotel. I am excited to announce that our Keynote Speaker is Donna Shalala and I look forward to seeing you there. I urge you to consider sponsoring this event and definitely invite your colleagues and friends.
Our October Lunch and Learn at the Miami Chophouse was sold out and very well-received. The topic was Leveraging Your Membership in Networking Organizations. Four members of our Board of Directors spoke on topics ranging from networking skills to use of social media to how to leverage your membership in the Women’s Chamber by using members-only forums on our website.
Our remaining 2011 events include a November 17 Lunch and Learn on Building Relationships Through Email Marketing with guest speaker Lisa Sparks. On December 8, we are co-hosting a holiday party with OWIT, NAWBO and other organizations.
To capitalize on your Women’s Chamber membership, please acquaint yourself with our website at www.WomensChamberofCommerce.org. Besides being able to view and register for upcoming events there, members have special login privileges to participate in the member-to-member forums and take advantage of contact information for referrals.
I encourage you to submit nominations for the annual Thelma Gibson Awards, which recognize corporations and individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of women in our community. Nomination forms, along with event sponsorship forms, are available on our website.
In closing, I thank each of you for your participation in the Women’s Chamber during 2011 and for providing me with a wonderful year as President, which would not have been possible without your support. I look forward to seeing you at upcoming events as we grow as an organization and continue our focus of promoting women in business.
