DIRECTOR
Jenelle La Chuisa focuses her practice on international commercial litigation and arbitration. She has extensive experience representing multi-national companies in a variety of commercial contract disputes, including actions arising out of commercial loan, purchase and sale, and distribution agreements.
Her recent arbitration experience includes obtaining a judgment on a multi-million dollar international arbitral award on behalf of an international bank; vacating a fraudulently obtained arbitration award for $6.6 billion; and representation of a South American subcontractor in a dispute with a U.S. Government Contractor, in connection with a consular project in the Andean region.
In addition, her representative cases include an international franchise organization involved in a corporate shareholder and employment dispute; a 49% joint venture partner in a $10 Million case against its 51% partner, where the joint venture was formed for the purpose of bidding on and performing U.S. government contracts; and an international corporation in connection with its claims against a Latin American sales representative to stop litigation in Ecuador in violation of the parties’ arbitral agreement.
Recognized as a "Future Star" in Florida Super Lawyers Magazine 2009, 2010 and 2011, La Chuisa has participated in arbitrations before the International Chamber of Commerce, the International Centre for Dispute Resolution and the American Arbitration Association.
La Chuisa is the current President of the Miami-Dad Chapter of the National Association of Professional Women, a Board Member of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce for Miami-Dade County, a member of Arbitral Women and a member of the International Law Section of the Florida Bar. She is admitted to practice before all Florida state courts; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit; the U.S. District Court for the Southern District for Florida; and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida.
Her years of service to Lawyers for Children America, Inc. and work with abused and neglected children in Miami-Dade County, earned her the John Edward Smith Award for Child Advocacy in recognition of her commitment to pro bono contributions.
As a St. Thomas University School of Law cum laude graduate, she served as Senior Articles Editor on the Law Review. While a law student, she tried asylum cases as a Certified Legal Intern at the Law School's Immigration Clinic and was a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow.
