What is your business?
Zamora, Hernandez & Hooda CPA
Where are you from?
I was born in India, but raised in Miami, FL.
What is your professional/business history?
I’m a compassionate, driven, and hard-working Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a focus on preparing state and federal tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships. My academic background includes an Executive Masters in Science and Taxation and over 5 years of working side-by-side with small businesses and individuals to maximize their accounting needs.
I have assisted the following industries and sectors with accounting practices: restaurants, law firms, construction companies, gas stations, private equity firms, wholesalers, manufacturers, insurance agents, and retail stores.
I am always seeking to establish new relationships with individuals and businesses to assist in best accounting practices.
My specialties are:
- Tax Services (tax preparation, planning, audits, back taxes, payroll issues, bankruptcy, and IRS issues)
- Management Account Services (compilation, reviews, cost and margin analysis, financial projection, communication with regulatory authorities)
- QuickBooks Services
- CFO/Controllership Services (individuals, companies, and non-profits)
- Accounting Services (A/R, A/P, sales tax processing, reconciliations, payroll, financial statements, and financial reporting)
What makes your business successful/unique?
There are a lot of things that make a business successful. I believe what make my business successful is the firm’s ability to understand the client’s needs and provide client specific services. My responsibility as an accountant is to provide a service to the client catered to their needs. We as a firm do not provide a cookie cutter service; we customized all our services to the needs of the clients. For example, if your company is in a situation where you do not need a full time controller or a CFO but need the high level of guidance that a CFO or controller our company will provide you with CFO/Controllership Services. The services will be adjusted to the needs of the clients to maximize their efficiencies.
How is it running a female locally owned business? Struggles? Advantages?
I love running my own business, there is no greater sense of accomplishment. The struggle is to manage time well and not multitask. Between deadline for clients and trying to do 5 things at once it’s easy to lose your head. The goal is to make an achievable and flexible work list for the day and focus on that.
The biggest advantage I have are my two wonderful partners who are always willing to help and support me
Aside from running the business, what are some of your personal interests?
Outside of the office, I love to spend my time doing and trying new things. In 2016, I was able to visit 3 new countries and 5 new cities. I am always ready to pack my bags and head out – except for camping- I have officially crossed that off my list! With all the beautiful photos I have collected, I like to scrapbook the memories!!
