We’re rounding the bases and in the home stretch of my tenure as President of this great organization. I am proud of all that we’ve accomplished thus far and I am sure you will find great value in our remaining events for 2013! Our membership continues to grow and as an organization, we have been able to create meaningful programs for our community!
To recap, we kicked off summer with a special event in partnership with Books & Books featuring author Eve Ensler. We joined the Miami Dade County Commission for Women in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Equal Pay Act, followed by an inspirational dialogue in June with author/speaker Luly B! We gathered around and shared a great discussion about Sheryl Sandberg’s book, Lean In. Although we let you relax in August, our President-Elect, Naomi Berry, rolled up her sleeves and engaged our Board of Directors for its annual goals conference. We can’t wait to share the exciting slate of events we have planned for 2014! To end the summer on a politically correct note, we had an enlightening conversation with State Senator Anitere Flores and Former County Commissioner Katy Sorenson, which included a surprise visit from Florida’s First Lady, Ann Scott.
As we gear up to close out 2013, get active and join Team WCC for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on October 19th, and you don’t want to miss our Wine & Unwind event at Machiya on October 21st. We will also host another of our informational panel discussions for Entrepreneurs in November. Our Holiday-inspired event promises to be a joyful one and we will have the details for you soon.
As we get closer to finalizing this year, I want to thank you, our members. Thank you for being the life of this organization. As we continue to be of service to you and our community, please remember to always strive to make a difference in the lives of those who surround you. Stay in the lift position and keep reaching back for those who need a helping hand.
