President’s Message

WEB_Berry_Naomi_Dear Members and Friends,

I can hardly believe this is my last President’s Message! It has been a wonderful and fulfilling year serving as the WCC President, and there are many great things to come under the leadership of my very capable successor, Kadisha Phelps.

This time last year, I was preparing for my first and biggest event as President – our annual Thelma Gibson Awards & Installation Luncheon featuring both Patricia Ireland and Jane Pauley as our keynote speakers. Throughout 2014, we have hosted a variety of interesting programs, welcomed new members and we hope we have helped your businesses to grow.

This fall, we co-hosted a “Meet the Candidates” panel, an evening honoring Judge Sandy Karlan, a pioneer of women’s and children’s rights, and we presented a Lunch & Learn on the Single Most Powerful Personality Trait of Successful Women. This year, we also implemented a new “Business Before Business” breakfast networking series, which has proven to be a great success! I am the first to admit that I am not a morning person, but I will attest that these breakfast meetings are typically filled with interesting people to network with and are a very efficient way to market yourself and make great contacts before starting your work day. Please make a point of checking out one of our breakfasts in 2015 – they are held on the third Wednesday of the month at various member businesses around the county.

I am very excited to see what Kadisha and our board have planned for 2015, starting with a spectacular evening TGA ceremony featuring Alexandra Villoch. I already have a baby-sitter lined up because by the time this newsletter goes to press, my husband and I will have welcomed our baby boy to the world! This next year will be that much more exciting and challenging for me, and it is a comfort to know that I have great resources in the WCC to help me navigate my new role as a working mom.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season and look forward to seeing you in 2015!
