Immediate Past President
Born in Cuba and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Aimee graduated from Pace University in NYC with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. She worked briefly at Radio Shack selling the first consumer personal computers before being hired by Xerox to manage the sale and lease of high-volume copiers to NYC’s Board of Education. After 3 years at Xerox, she was hired by American Express to expand the acceptance of the AmEx card at merchant locations. Aimee relocated to Miami when AmEx opened an office here, and stayed with AmEx, in varying positions, for 20 years. During that time, she took advantage of AmEx’s generous tuition reimbursement plan, and obtained her MBA at Nova Southeastern University.
In 2007, just prior to the recession, Aimee’s position at AmEx was eliminated and she chose to step away from the corporate world to pursue other interests, and she became a licensed real estate agent. The timing was terrible, as the market was tumbling, and after 2 years, decided to pivot and obtain her insurance licenses. Like most people she’s met in the insurance business, she got into insurance by accident. A childhood friend who owned a very successful agency suggested that she get her life and health licenses and provided her with a desk in their office. Aimee followed their advice and a few months later she also obtained her property & casualty license. Aimee has discovered that she truly likes the insurance business–she learns something new every single day, and she enjoys the challenge of identifying the coverages needed by a business or individual.
In her spare time, Aimee loves to read, cook, travel, and spend time with friends.
