Cathleen Plasencia joined Munar Law in 2018 after a successful career as in-house counsel for a Fortune 100 company where she spearheaded the creation of a centralized litigation unit handling matters throughout the state of Florida. Prior to that, Cathleen was a trust officer at Coconut Grove Bank in Miami, Florida where she advised clients on proper trust administration and adherence to applicable law. Cathleen completed her law degree at Florida International University, where she was an evening student. Throughout law school Cathleen worked full time as a paralegal and law clerk at firms handling varied matters including estate planning, real estate, probate, civil litigation, divorce and bankruptcy.
Cathleen obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Miami where she focused her studies on business with a concentration in finance. After graduating from UM, Cathleen joined UBS Financial and worked in the financial services industry for a number of years. Cathleen then decided to explore the possibility of a career in law, and joined a prestigious estate planning, probate & guardianship firm in Miami, FL. Additionally, throughout her time at the University of Miami, Cathleen worked full time at a law firm in Coral Gables, FL with a focus on tax and estate planning. Given all of her past experiences, Cathleen believes her heart lies in transactional law, which is why the decision to join a transactional firm like Munar Law made perfect sense.
Cathleen prides herself in providing excellent legal advice and exceptional customer service. She believes every client should be treated fairly and that every transaction deserves her full attention. Cathleen approaches each matter from a practical and logical perspective, and aims to deliver efficient, effective results.
Throughout law school, Cathleen was active in the Hispanic Law Students Association (HLSA) serving as the organization’s vice president and secretary. Currently, Cathleen is active in HLSA’s parent organization, the Hispanic National Bar Association, where she mentors law students toward success. She enjoys volunteer work and gives of her time to local organizations including Lotus House, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and the United Way of Miami.
Cathleen is a native Miamian who enjoys spending weekends exploring her home town and sharing quality time with family and friends. Cathleen has a high-school aged daughter, Isabella, and two rescue dogs, Walter and Rufus.
